What are the best type of bicycling helmets? - do nutcase helmets give good protection

I bought a cruiser and not pull out all the tricks, but I keep my head in contact with style. I like the helmet-shaped shell and found a brand that looks good, as the shells and nuts, which are slightly more expensive, but I'm willing to pay the difference.

I just want to know if I receive sufficient protection and whether there's a better rate.
